That version of libpcap with the patch makes tcpdump work,

I.e., tcpdump didn't work with the standard libpcap 0.9.3, but it did work with the patch?

What was the failure with the standard 0.9.3? Did doing something such as

	tcpdump -i lan0

produce the error message

	tcpdump:

with no text in the error message, with tcpdump exiting immediately after that?

(I.e., is it the same problem Albert Chin reported on the tcpdump-workers mailing list? I haven't heard back from him whether any of the patches worked - or didn't work, with the missing "}".)

but ethereal doesn’t with the (recv_ack: promisc_phys: UNIX error -
Device busy) error.

That'll take more debugging.

But, I have discovered (before or after the the new libpcap) that going to any menu entry (except capture) crashes and makes a core. Oh well.

Do you have any stack traces?
