Dear all,

when you call col_set_fence the text in that column will not be
overwritten when you call col_set_str and so on.

I hope that helps.

Best regards
Michael

I saw your entry on the Wiki, this can be handled by
"col_set_fence(pinfo->cinfo,COL_INFO);" in the dissector see h225 for an
example,
Where this was a problem before.
Included a file with multiple frames in it.

Thanks!

Interesting, but what will col_set_fence do?

The only documentation I've found while doing a quick search was in column_utils.h was:

"/* Sets the fence for a column to be at the end of the column. */"

Well, great explanation :-(

Question comes quickly to my mind: What *is* a fence for a column?!?

We might enhance documentation for it right now, as you seem to know a lot more than me and the comments :-) and I didn't had a closer look at the sources.

Regards, ULFL

P.S: I've CC'ed to the dev list, as others might be interested too!
