Hello,

When I was trying ./configure --prefix=/usr for installing ethereal I am
getting the following error:
checking whether to use libpcap for packet capture... yes
checking pcap.h usability... yes
checking pcap.h presence... yes
checking for pcap.h... yes
checking for pcap_open_live in -lpcap... no
checking for pcap_open_live in -lpcap -lcfg -lodm... no
configure: error: Library libpcap not found.

But I have installed libpcap-0.8.3, And pcap include files are locate
inside /usr/include and library files in /usr/lib, I even tried
[root@abid ethereal-0.10.8]$ objdump -T /usr/lib/libpcap.so | grep
"pcap_open_live"
which returned me "00003460 g DF .text 000003aa pcap_open_live"

I have also tried --with-pcap option but again ended up with same
configuration error.

Can anyone help me regarding what could be the problem for configuration
script not detection installed libpcap-0.8.3

Thanks in Advance,
Syed Shabir Zakiullah
