Hi ,
I am Nimalan,I am trying to add my customised
dissector to ethereal library.I tried to rerun the
configure script,automake and libtool. 
However I always end up with
> pan/.libs/libethereal.so: undefined reference to
> `proto_reg_handoff_myproto'
> epan/.libs/libethereal.so: undefined reference to
> `proto_register_myproto'
Let me also explain the sequence:
make clean ethereal
make distclean ethereal
reconfigure  and rebuild automake
reconfigure  and rebuild autoconf
reconfigure  and rebuild libtool
reconfigure  and rebuild ethereal
Still i get the same error.
Can anyone help me to overcome this state,
