Either install GLib 2.x and GTK+ 2.x (and, if you're installing binary packages and there are both "user's" and "developer's" packages for it, install the developer's package, not just the user's package), or run the configure script with the argument "--disable-gtk2" (assuming you have GLib 1.2[.x] and GTK+ 1.2[.x] installed instead).
