Ethereal-dev: [Ethereal-dev] tethereal 0.10.6 yields Glib-ERROR, running on Win2000
>From Win2000 Command Prompt Window issued:
C:\d\aatrace>\d\aatools\Ethereal\Ethereal-0.10.6\Ethereal\tethereal -x
-r A40917_XDM_I101_E101
to examine data in file generated by ethereal run.
tethereal generated 400+ packet blocks, then a window popped-up, saying:
Glib-ERROR **:gmem.c:173:failed to allocate 1025 bytes aborting...
I can't provide the input because it potentially contains sensitive information.
After I clicked OK on the error-pop-up, Command Prompt Window reported:
abnormal program termination
Diagnostic info:
C:\d\aatrace>\d\aatools\Ethereal\Ethereal-0.10.6\Ethereal\tethereal -v
tethereal 0.10.6
Compiled with GLib 2.4.5, with WinPcap (version unknown), with libz 1.2.1,
with libpcre 4.4, with Net-SNMP 5.1, with ADNS.
Running with WinPcap (2.3) on Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, build 2195.
I had an older version of tethereal available so I tried using that which
resulted in normal output.
Diagnostic info from version that worked correctly:
C:\d\aatrace>\d\aatools\Ethereal\tethereal -v
tethereal 0.9.11, with GLib 1.3.2, with libpcap (version unknown), with libz 1.1
.4, with Net-SNMP 5.0.6, running on Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, build 2195
In the correct result, the first previouly unseen packet is a SNMP
GET-NEXT whose
size is less than 500 bytes.
This behavior is repeatable.
