The type of the function is predefined by the tap-API as beeing
void foo (void *),
and registered tap-functions need to respect that definition.
But note how on the next line,
 user_data_t *user_data = user_data_arg;
the pointer is cast to the appropriate type.

Why is user_data_arg pointing VOID?
