Yes, exactly what I had in mind :-) I've checked it in, together with changing the Makefile.nmake (win32) to use it.
Would it be possible to remove the empty line following the task description, too?

Might have to apply some "utf8" filter into the output function.


The following solutions come to my mind:
1 Convert AUTHORS file to UTF-8 (it looks like more and more Linux distros
 are moving to UTF-8 as default encoding, don't know about the BSDs and
 commercial UNIXes).
2 Find a tool (or perl package) to convert ISO-8859-15 to UTF-8.
3 Add a conversion part to the script: As there aren't many characters to
 care about right now this looks like a feasible solution.

I'd prefer 1, but 3 looks ok too. Let me know what you think
I'd prefer solution 1 too, as the underlying Glib seem's also to be preferring utf8. However, as I don't have very much knowledge of character encodings, I don't know what the right solution would be best.
