I did the initial (ugly!) dialog. I did not like it, but I was learning
GTK and, well, it was a success just to get it to work(!).
If I were doing it again I would do something like Ulf's example, but I
would use standard buttons when moving to gtk2+. See below for some
comments on Ulf's comments

I like the named frames: it helps the user know what is going on. I also
like the idea of a "Manage" frame.
As someone else noted, maybe the "Order" buttons could be in the "Edit"
frame nad labelled "Move Up" and "Move Down". It does seem to make sense
and would allow more screen real estate for the filter string.
After that, I will have a look at the capture and display filter dialogs
and change them to look and behave similar to the color dialog.
That would be cool.
