I was thinking about that too.
I needed the direction to properly decode some messages further up
the stack, such as GSM RP messages (part of SMS), i.e. A-interface stuff.
I have a proprietary protocol that runs just under SCCP (basically a
TCP transport) but I can actually use a port number in that protocol.
So MTP3 is probably better, my only other question would be about M3UA.
I suppose the Source PC preference would have to be added to M3UA to
ensure that SCCP/ISUP always have the direction set. Is that true?
