Just out of curiosity, do people work on those 1.0 issues?
Is there such a goal, to get to a 1.0 release?
As far as I see it, people keep improving Ethereal, but not on the below
mentioned issues. Therefore, we'll reach 0.9.999 possibly, then 0.9.1000,
but never 1.0.
Not that I think it's bad, (personally I think some of the below mentioned
items are beyond a 1.0 release), I'm just curious about it.

I think this has been discussed before, but I'd be curious to hear what
different people's wish lists for 1.0 are now.

Here's a more complete version of mine, in no particular order:
Scripting support - The ability to pass packet information
to a scripting language for further processing.
Custom packet list widget - This would allow us to reconfigure
columns on the fly, and possibly improve memory management.
Custom byte/data view widget - I'd like to improve the selection
    behavior at the very least.
    Native Windows UI
    Native MacOS X UI
    Unified filter syntax
    Asynchronous DNS lookups
Separate capture and display processes - Something similar to
OpenSSH's privilege separation. Not sure if this is possible or
    worthwhile under Windows.
