My apologies on this, but I am not a programmer and I don't want to
create my own problems.

Could some one please explain how to use the patches that are sent?  I
know this is really basic, but I would like to try some of the new
features and protocols and give feed back on what I find.  To do this, I
want to makes sure I am not creating problems by doing the patches
incorrectly.

Using FreeBSD system 4.6 and Red hat 7.2  Instructions for either or
both would be greatly appreciated.
