Ok, what about another direction.  What if, at runtime, an attempt to
open openssl is done.  Would that taint the GPL?

In other words, no dependencies, but dynamic loading at runtime, if it is
in the library path.  That way, we can *assume* that the library is prexisting
on the system, and we do not rely on it's existance at all.

Check how packet-diameter.c checks for and loads libxml2.  It is completely
outisde of the build process, and a runtime only check.
