It's already been suggested; as I noted in my reply to the original
suggestion, it lacks support for at least some toolkits I'd like to see
Ethereal use:

	Qt+KDE

	GNOME (rather than just GTK+)

	curses (for a non-GUI Ethereal)

As for MacOS, I don't know whether you can use raw UNIX calls in a
Carbon application, even if you don't ever intend it to run on any pre-X
MacOS, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that you can't; as the MacOS
version supports 9.x, it presumably doesn't support Cocoa, which might
make life difficult for Ethereal, which would use, on MacOS X (as on
other UNIXes), various UNIX APIs, including but not limited to libpcap.
