When working on Ethereal, are there any CVS commands needed to tell the
system
that you are working on a file so that local changes don't get stomped by
a "cvs update" command?

Sorry if this is a FAQ.  I'm new to CVS and open source projects.

Also, the development web page at http://www.ethereal.com/development.html
should probably include the line "export CVSROOT" after the example that
shows the definition of the CVSROOT variable.
