Ethereal-dev: [Ethereal-dev] RedHat 6.2 a good platform for Ethereal dev?

I'm setting up a new machine to do Ethereal development.  Is
RedHat 6.2 a reasonable place to start or would another version
be preferable?  I haven't done anything yet, so it's no big
deal to download a new setup disk.

Also, is there a development environment readme anywhere?  I
haven't seen anything on the site or in the mail archives.  It
looks like the required software is the source package, gtk+,glib,
and libpcap.

Any hints are appreciated.
