Sorry, but your history is running in reverse.  DECnet is far older than
LAT.  The Local Area Terminal protocol was a slimmed down version of a
roughly equivalent service that had been running on DECnet for years.
DECnet CTERM is an ancestor, not descendant, of LAT.  Before CTERM came
the ANF10 remote terminal protocol, though the relationship there was more
of rivalry than of descent.
