Hi,

Something that would be useful when trying to teach protocols, like TCP/IP, X.25, etc, is to be able to hand people a capture file, have them open the capture file in Ethereal, and have interesting packets and or fields annotated.

It would be real useful if these annotations could be displayed by Ethereal, and users could display them or not, as they saw fit.

One way to achieve this would be to extend the capture file format to include, for each frame, some extra info at the end. This extra info would be a list of annotations:

  0 - For whole frame
  1 - for field 1
  2 - for field 2
  ...

Any comments?
