Good news: Ethereal 0.7.9 works well on Mandrake 6.1 with patched
libpcap I obtained from http://ethereal.zing.org/~gerald/

Bad news:
I had to use the prebuilt i386 RPMs. The source RPM doesn't want to
rebuild on Mandrake 6.1 both for i586 target platform and i386.
I can post the whole output of rebuild process.
