Speaking of being able to Telnet into boxes, is there anybody from the
part of Alcatel that builds ADSL modems on either of these lists (I'm
CCing "ethereal-users", as there may be people on that list who might
know the answer but who might not be on "ethereal-dev")?

If so, I've found that I can Telnet into my ADSL modem (an Alcatel 1000,
which I think might now be called the Speed Touch Home), but it's asking
for a password, and I don't have the password for the modem (nor do I
know if my phone company will tell me what it is, or if they even have
any clue what it is). The questions I have are

	1) is there a "default" password

and

	2) what can be done via the Telnet connection? Can you, for
example, get network traces as ASCII dumps?

Also, does it have any SNMP support, and does that include RMON, and
does that RMON support include the stuff to do packet captures?

(The on-line and printed manuals talk about the HTTP interface, but that
appears only to let you configure the modem; it doesn't have anything
about packet capture, or, for that matter, about, say, getting any
statistics from the modem about e.g. line quality.)
