Damn.  I *vaguely* remember seeing this a while ago (pre-0.7.5), and
even think I remember some discussion of it - and perhaps even a change
to fix it, so maybe some other change made it come back - but I don't
remember the details.

Hmm.  What I saw back then *might* have been input not matching any Lex
rule in "dfilter-scanner.l", and thus getting written to the standard
output.  Whether this is at all related to that is another question....
