When looking at the trace I referred to earlier, the version with my
patch didn't seem to do that - but I'm not sure *why* it didn't (I tried
following it in GDB, but all I discovered was that I'd forgotten that
GTK+ has this *INTENSELY* irritating habit of grabbing the keyboard - or
maybe the entire X server - because it's in the mood to screw the user
over, so that if a GTK+ program stops at a breakpoint, it may well have
the keyboard grabbed, so that there's nothing you can do other than
stare at your screen or go to another machine and kill the process;
unfortunately, my patch to GTK+ to add a command-line flag to suppress
grabs is at home, not at work).
