Please no.  I'd hate to see that happen as the only alternative.  I like being 
able to look at one group of packets while others are being captured.  Maybe we 
should make it an option to scroll to the bottom on new data.  The non-scroll 
is a feature of Ethereal I find very nice.  I use it literally all the time.
