Here is the tcpdump capture file and the ethereal capture file on the same
empty icmp packet.

If I load the tcpdump capture file into ethereal with modification to the 
dissect_icmp to check capture length, ethereal does fine. 
If I capture or read a file captured by ethereal, garbage is packed on
the end.

Redhat 5.2(kernel 2.0.36)
ethereal 0.6.2
gtk 1.0.6


Not exactly sure what the NIC is?
Does it make a difference if the pcap lib is used for both captures?
