Here's the latest news in the world of Ethereal development:
Version 0.4.0 has been released. The latest patches from Guy, Hannes,
and Laurent are all there. I made the following changes:
- The main window and capture dialog now have their own filters.
Filter strings can be entered directly, or selected from the filter
prefs window. I tried to make things a little more convenient by
making it so that you can apply a display filter by typing it in
and pressing <Ctrl-R>, which activates the new "File/Reload" menu.
- Several utility functions have been added and updated. Along with
Guy's fixes to pntoh[sl], I added match_strval() and modified
simple_dialog() to take a printf-style argument list. Match_strval()
is a convenience function for checking a variable against a list of
valid values. An example can be found in packet-arp.c.
- Some alignemt problems in packet-ospf.c were fixed. I should probably
apologize to Hannes in advance in case I broke something. :)
I also configured user directories on the web server. Anyone
with an account on pow can drop files in ~public_html, and have
them accessible from http://ethereal.zing.org/~<username> or
http://ethereal.zing.org/devteam/<username>
I no longer have mud in my basement. This is a Very Good Thing.
Whoops - I just realized that I forgot to update the pod page.
I'll make sure it's updated in the next version.
