Ethereal 0.8.0 is now available for download from Sender: owner-ethereal-announce@xxxxxxxx Precedence: bulk ftp://ethereal.zing.org/pub/ethereal/ethereal-0.8.0.tar.gz The Ethereal home page is at http://ethereal.zing.org The following protocol decoders were added: TNS, ISIS, Gryphon, AppleTalk's NBP and RTMP, IRC Many protocols decoders were updated: NFS, RCP, GRE, BGP, SNMP, SMB, NetBIOS, IPX, ICQ, RADIUS, VLAN, TACACS+/XTACACS, LLC/SNAP, NTP, ISAKMP, HTTP New features include: * Loadable module support for decoders. Our first module is a decoder for Gryphon, a protocol developed by the Dearborn Group. * Ethereal can now save files in the following formats: Snoop, Netmon 1.x, Sniffer, Netxray, and various flavors of libpcap. * A command-line utility called "editcap" now comes with the distribution. Editcap allows you to trim capture files and convert to different file formats from the command line. * Many GUI enhancements: * IPX statistics are now listed in the capture window. * Stream window color preferences have been added. * When the main window is resized, the protocol tree resizes with the window instead of the data pane. * The packet list and protocol tree browse behavior is now configurable. * Filter preferences have been moved to their own dialog. * Vertical scroll bars can now be placed on the left. * The about box was trimmed down. Quite a bit of code was added with this release. The source distribution has jumped from about 750kB to over 1MB in size. By comparison, the first public version (0.2.0) was a whopping 56kB!
